ENTRY PERIOD
The Garuda Indonesia World Photo Contest starts March 12, 2014 at 12:00:00 (GM+7) and ends May 12, 2014, 11:59:00 (GM+7). 

ABOUT THE CONTEST
In 2013, Garuda Indonesia had successfully carried out the yearly Garuda Indonesia international photo contest into an event that captured the spirit of Garuda Indonesia as the flag carrier of the Republic of Indonesia under the new name of Garuda Indonesia World Photo Contest (GAWPC).

Where every year, the contest receives exceptional response from photographers and photography communities all around the world with thousands of photos are submitted to the competition.

There were 18,474 international participants from 94 countries with over 64,564 photos were submitted in the 6th events of Garuda Indonesia international photo contest in 2013.

Garuda Indonesia World Photo Contest (GAWPC) nurture the exchanging of tourism and between towns and countries through photos. The contest’s theme are to inspire people’s interest for traveling abroad. GAWPC theme categorised in 3 (three) category: Nature, Culture and People.

The process in selecting the best photos and the honorable winners in GAWPC are involving opinion and rating from creditable Qualification Round Judges and scoring from 2014 GAWPC Honorary Judging Committee. There will be 4 (four) round. Round 1, Qualification Round Judges opinion will determined the top 1.000 photo from each category. Round 2, Qualification Round Judge’s rating will be rank to determined the top 200 photo from each category. Round 3, 2014 GAWPC Honorary Judging Committee will select the top 5 photographer out of the top 200 photo to be GAWPC Finalist. Final Round, 15 Finalist are taken to Flores, East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia for photo hunting for the final leg.

The total prize reaches IDR 110 million, plus trophies from the World’s Best Regional Airline, Garuda Indonesia.

With the theme of ‘Amazing World’, Garuda Indonesia are welcoming for all participant to start the Garuda Indonesia World Photo Contest 2014.

JUDGING PROCESS
Step 1 - Photo Submission
Photos must be in digital format. Only online entries will be eligible. No print or film submissions will be accepted for entry into this Contest. The photo need to be taken with a digital camera (d-slr, pocket, mirrorless). Photo taken from wireless devices (cellphone, tablet, smartphone), scans of negatives, transparencies, or photographic prints are not acceptable.

Each digital file (photo) must be:
• less than 7 MB in size
• JPG format (8bit)
• at least 4096 pixels wide or tall
• resolution between 240-300 dpi
• preserved metadata (EXIF)
• use Adobe RGB (1998) color profile

Suggested Photo specifications are:
• less than 7 MB in size

• 300 dpi resolution
• preserved metadata (EXIF)
• Adobe RGB (1998) color profile

Each entrant may send a maximum of 15 photos.

Photos are taken within three years (from Jan 1, 2011 00:00 GMT+7 onwards) mark with EXIF metadata.

The Theme is ‘Amazing World’. Using this theme you are expected to describe amazing places in the world by exposing the 3 aspects of Nature, Culture and People within a beautiful photo.

Step 2 - Round 1
Top 1000 are determine by Online Judge’s rating.
The photos will be judged in form of online judging. All photos will be displayed on Garuda Indonesia World Photo Contest website online photo gallery, open to be judged by a panel of photography experts (Qualification Round Judges).

An online system will sort out the top one thousand (1000) entries in each Category from all eligible entries based on Qualification Round Judges Rating (Photographic quality).

Step 3 - Round 2
GAWPC Honorary Judging Committee will sort out the top two hundred (200) entries in each Category from all eligible entries based on Qualification Round Judge’s Scoring.

Step 4 - Round 3
The 5 Finalist from each Category (total 15 Finalists) will be selected from the top 200 photo by the 2014 GAWPC Honorary Judging Committee and announced shortly after submission closing time.

Step 5 - Final Round
The 15 Finalist will be invited to a Photo Hunting Trip to Flores, East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia and compete with each other to find the best photo and the best photo essay for each category in the allotted time. The Judging process will be done one day after the end of the Photo Hunting Trip.

Step 6 - Winner
The Best Nature, Best Culture, Best People, Best Overall and Special Recognition, will be selected from the 15 Finalists by the 2014 GAWPC Honorary Judging Committee, and will be announced as Garuda Indonesia World Photo Contest at the Gala Dinner Ceremony.

JUDGES
The Online Judges is a panel of creditable people from photography, art and creative background.
2014 GAWPC Honorary Judging Committee consist of professional photographers and representatives from Garuda Indonesia.

CRITERIA
This competition is open to anyone from around the world; Photos must not previously have won an award in any Photography Contest.

THEME
This is a two qualification contest:
Online Qualification (March 12th 2014 - May 12th 2014)
The Theme is: “Amazing World”
Photos must describe the theme from 3 angles:
Nature, Culture and People
Photo Hunting Trip Qualification
The Theme is: “Uniquely Indonesia”

PRIZES & AWARD
15 Finalist of Online Qualification will receive:
1. Title of “Garuda Indonesia World Photo Contest Finalist”
2. International exposure in GAWPC website
3. Garuda Indonesia return flights ticket
4. Fully covered accommodation for up to 7 days, 6 nights in Flores, East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia

Winner of Photo Hunting Trip Qualification will receive:
1. Title of “Garuda Indonesia World Photo Contest Best category name”
2. International exposure in GAWPC website
3. Global media coverage
4. Winning photo showcased in the GAWPC Programme Book
5. Winning photo will be published in Garuda Indonesia Inflight magazine.
6. Trophy and Certificate
7. Cash money
  • 1 Best Nature: IDR 20,000,000 
  • 1 Best Culture: IDR 20,000,000 
  • 1 Best People: IDR 20,000,000 
  • 1 Best Overall: IDR 40,000,000 
  • 1 Special Recognition: IDR 10,000,000 

REGISTER
• Accepted photos must be graphic files taken with digital cameras.
• Each digital file (photo) must be:
  • less than 7 MB in size
  • JPG format (8bit) 
  • at least 4096 pixels wide or tall
  • resolution between 240-300 dpi
  • preserved metadata (EXIF) 
  • use Adobe RGB (1998) color profile

Multiple photos may not be submitted as one photo entry.
sRGB will be applied as the standard color space during the judging process. Winners may be asked to submit JPG images of higher resolution for their winning photos for such purposes as to the production of publications and exhibitions related to the contest.
Each entrant may enter a maximum of 15 JPG images.
Photos are taken within three years (from Jan 1, 2011 00:00 GMT+7 onwards) mark with EXIF metadata.
Submitted photos will not be returned under any circumstances.
Upon registration to GAWPC, entrants will receive a notification letter or e-mail of registration.
Photographers that have submitted their photos will only be accepted as contestants if they acted in accordance with the procedures mentioned above and GAWPC Term and Condition.
All data submitted to the contest via the Internet, including image data and personal information, will be managed by AYOFOTO! as laid out by the contest management.

NOTES :
Photo that have been published and that have won any awards will not be accepted.

The committee reserves the right to disqualify entries that violate the law or show any Indonesian people, places or subjects in an uncomplimentary way.

All entrants, particularly those under 18, are responsible for ensuring that their submissions are in compliance with the legal requirements of their country.
